Recology has been in business since the 1920s. We have been a long-time industry leader in recycling, waste reuse and recovery, pioneering environmental education, and advocating for recycling and composting as alternatives to sending materials to be landfilled. We have the highest recycling and resource recovery record in the country, and we are the largest employee-owned resource-recovery company in the industry.
We believe in landfill diversion and getting resources to their next best and highest use. We are investors in technology innovation and have a track record for pioneering sustainable solutions to minimize landfill-bound waste. While we have made significant progress in our compost and recycling education programs, there is still material that has to be landfilled, while consumer education catches up.
The proposal is to open a landfill along Jungo Road in Humboldt County, Nevada. The facility will operate to the highest environmental standards available and will accept Municipal Solid Waste from Northern California as well as communities in Nevada. The proposed site will create approximately 25 jobs.
